LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Led by sophomore forward Devonne Richardson's 17 points and junior point guard Lindsay Duck's 14, the Goldey-Beacom College women's basketball team captured a season sweep of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division foe Georgian Court University with a solid, 70-48 victory at the GCU Wellness Center Thurs. night.

The Lightning as a team distributed the ball effectively with 15 assists on the night though they did turn it over 22 times on the night. GCU was far worse in the assist-to-turnover ratio however with 24 turnovers and just five assists.
After playing some of its best defense since 2004 against Nyack on Sat., GBC had no let-down defensively on this night, holding the Lions to just 16 points on 23-percent shooting in the first half. The Lightning turned the Lions' 15 first-half miscues into nine points and blocked seven shots while committing only five personal fouls. GCU managed just one trip to the line while GBC was allowed 20 attempts.
The Lightning shot just 29-percent from the field, but they led 32-16 at the half after a Duck layup in the waning seconds.
From there, GBC coasted to victory as Richardson scored 10 of her 17, Duck scored eight of her 14, and freshman forward Briana Richmond-Peters scored all eight of her points (a season-high) in the second half. Freshman guard Melanie Johnson also came off the bench to knock down a pair of three-pointers in the second half to finish with six.
As they have all season, the Lightning benefitted from great bench play, outscoring the Lions' bench 37-13 for the night, helped again by sophomore forward Irene Hudson with seven points and seven rebounds.
This game marked the second time this season that GBC has entered double-figures for blocked shots in a game as the Lightning combined for 12 blocks on the night led by sophomore forward Akilah Sewell's six. Sewell also finished with six points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist in 23 minutes of work.
