Biography
With the Lightning: Second-year player who will have an increased role in the Lightning offensive attack in 2011-12…a pure shooter who forces teams to play her deep and opens up many opportunities for other aspects of GBC’s game.
2010-11 Season: Played in 18 games for the Lightning and averaged 6.6 minutes per-contest...registered 2.3 points and 0.4 reboudns per-game....also collected six assists, five steals and one block...scored a season-high six points twice against HFU (12/16) and Georgian Court (2/17)...shot 11-for-37 from three-point range (.297) for the season.
High School: Two-year letter-winner at St. Peters High School for Girls under Bob Daggett…led team to Archdiocesan Championship, AA State Championship and the Staten Island Championship…named team’s most valuable player her senior year.
Personal: Melanie “Mel” Johnson…chose to come to GBC because it is a great business school…chose to play Division II athletics because it is a great fit for her…enjoys playing basketball, shopping, sleeping, working out and eating…describes herself as “determined.”
