PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Goldey-Beacom College golf team took first place in the first match of the 2010-11 season Saturday at the Ace Club, shooting a 311 to beat host Philadelphia University (344) and the University of the Sciences (354).

Sophomore Michael Coppa shot a 73 to lead the field. He was followed by freshman Justin Lesko (77) and senior Wes Hood (79). Senior Erik Tammsalu and sophomore Devon Ripley were fifth and sixth, respectively, with scores of 82 and 83.

The Lightning will next compete in the Dowling College September Shootout on Sept. 24-25.
