BRISTOL, Pa. – Holy Family University drilled three home runs and got a strong pitching performance from Jody Searfoss to defeat the Goldey-Beacom College softball team, 7-1, in a rescheduled Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game on Monday afternoon at Bristol Borough Little League.

Goldey-Beacom (14-15, 6-12 CACC) took a 1-0 lead with its first two batters of the game. Right fielder Lauren Witzke led off the contest with a single to left field and stole second base. Shortstop Ashley Paige brought her around to score with a base hit to right field. The game remained 1-0 until the bottom of the third inning.

But then HFU's Cassandra Fitzgerald-Black connected on an offering from sophomore Shannon O'Hara. The ball hit the top of the right-center field fence and bounced over for a solo home run to tie the game.

Deanna Myers put the Tigers ahead 2-1 with a solo blast to lead off the fourth inning, which chased O'Hara from the game.

Holy Family padded the lead with five runs in the sixth inning to open up a 7-1 advantage. Right fielder Bianca Robinson, who entered the game in the fifth, drove in third baseman Lindsey Iden and Myers with a single to center. Two hitters later, Kasey Barnes drilled a pitch by sophomore Sadie Jones over the right field fence to score three runs. Robinson and Danielle McDevitt came home on Barnes' blast.

Witzke led the Goldey-Beacom offense with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate. O'Hara took the loss in the circle. She went three innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out one. Jones went the final three innings. She allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits.
