Livingston1-2010
Earning the first start of his career and recording a career-high five blocks and five rebounds (all on the defensive glass) was sophomore forward Lawrence Livingston. Known for his shot-blocking ability coming out of Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, Livingston became the first Lightning player to block five shots in a game since Derek Savage on Nov. 17, 2007 against Penn State-Abington.
The Lightning also received 12 points and eight rebounds from the league's sixth leading scorer and third leading rebounder, senior forward Terrence Parkes.
Senior guard Darnell Cephas registered eight points, six assists and four rebounds, and freshman guard A.J. Picard shot 6-for-6 from the foul line and scored nine points while also grabbing three rebounds. Graduate student forward Rich Flemming recorded six points and a game-high 10 rebounds as well.
The Wildcats led 23-18 before a Crawford layup triggered a 19-5 surge over the final 6:06 of the half, creating a 37-28 halftime lead for GBC. A 24-9 run when play resumed (43-14 total run spanning the half) gave the Lightning a commanding 61-37 lead with 11:12 remaining.
It was all Lightning from there. The lead ballooned to as much as 31 (84-53) before all was said and done, and the Lightning captured their second win of the season by a score of 89-60. GBC shot a blistering 51.6 percent (16-of-31) from the field and outscored the 'Cats 52-32 in the final stanza.
Herbert Dennis and Robert Owens led the Wildcats with 17 and 12 points, respectively. The Lightning outshot the Wildcats 49-percent to 37-percent, outrebounded them 46-31 and had 19 assists to their 10. Wilmington shot exactly the same from the foul line as it did from behind-the-arc (6-for-15) while Goldey-Beacom was a strong 12-of-26 from long range. Wilmington's leading scorer, Isiah Mason, was held scoreless in 27 minutes of action.
