Men’s Basketball Wins NABC Team Academic Excellence Award; Nine Players Cited For NABC Honors Court

Goldey-Beacom's Men's Basketball program was selected for a National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award and nine players were named to the association's Honors Court.

The team award is for programs who recorded at least a 3.0 grade point average during the 2025-26 academic year. The Honors Court recognizes student-athletes with at least a 3.2 GPA and who are at least a junior.

Those nine players include juniors Bryson Kittrell (Chester, VA), Elisha Brown (Bowie, MD), Eli White (Plainfield, NJ), Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY), Jalen Robinson (South Orange, NJ), Masud Stewart (Philadelphia, PA), Vinicius Paixao (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) along with senior Justin Allen (Boca Raton, FL).

Among the elite athletic performances in this group included Jones, who was picked third team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and made the league's all-tournament team. Showing great toughness in the paint on both ends of the floor, Jones finished 17th in the CACC with 13.3 points per game, fourth with 1.9 steals per contest, ninth with 6.8 rebounds per game, eighth with a .514 field goal percentage and 10th with 0.8 blocks per contest.

Williams, a member of the CACC All-Tournament Team, made a presence with his scoring and rebounding ability. He had six double-doubles on the season, which included getting 18 points and 14 rebounds against Felician in the conference final.

Goldey-Beacom (21-11, 13-7 CACC) last season competed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time, broke the school record for most victories in a season and played in the CACC final for the fourth time.

It was the third postseason appearance in program history and second in the NCAA era. Goldey-Beacom won the 2007 ECAC championship and competed in the 1999 NAIA Region 10 quarterfinals.

The Lightning went on an eight-game winning streak from January 6-February 3 and were on a four-game winning streak going into the conference final. It also marked the fifth time the squad has reached at least 20 wins and the third under 10th-year coach TJ Dekmar.
