PIKE CREEK, Del. – After going into the intermission down just 1-0, the Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team could not hold off the Felician attack in the second half as the visiting Golden Falcons cushioned their lead with three second-half goals and won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest, 4-0.

The Lightning (3-13, 2-9 CACC) nearly tied their season-high for shots in a game with 21 today, but put just six on net, none of which got past Felician keeper Jason Smith who earned the complete game shutout victory. Junior midfielder Rob Cann and freshman Thatcher Howell each took five shots to lead the Lightning offensively. GBC also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman Carlos Meinhard started his second consecutive game in goal for the injured Ignacio Farias and made nine saves while allowing four goals in 90 minutes of work. He faced 13 shots on the day as Felician fired 24 shots as a team (13 were on net).

Four different players tallied for the Falcons (4-10-1, 4-6-1 CACC), who are unbeaten in their last four matches over a six-day period. Mike Azzato, who scored one of Felician's goals, led the team with five shots, Kevin Sinic recorded a goal and an assist, and Daniel Camargo registered two assists.

Emre Guven opened the scoring on the day when he put home a cross from Camargo just minutes before the half.

Felician carried the momentum from Guven's goal into the second half, adding a second goal from Azzato (from Sinic) on a breakaway just a little over five minutes in. Carlos Canido knocked in another cross from Camargo about two-and-a-half minutes later to give Felician a 3-0 lead.

Sinic put the final touch on a 4-0 Felician win when he beat a Lightning defender in the box to a pass from Javi Perez and scored at the 76:10 mark.

The Lightning will try to end the season on a positive note when they host Lincoln University on Fri. at 2 p.m. Friday's game will mark the end of senior Mike Sager's Goldey-Beacom career.
