PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Mariano Olcese scored his second goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Matt Bik in the 82nd minute, but it was too little too late for the Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team as the Lightning fell 2-1 at Holy Family on Tues. afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.

After a scoreless first half on both sides, the Tigers broke through in the 62nd minute when Timothy Weglicki headed in his fifth goal of the season off a Jeffrey Wimsey assist. Marc Fischer added the pivotal insurance goal a little over four minutes later off assists by Weglicki and Thomas Stackhouse to put Holy Family up 2-0.

The Lightning, who were outshot 18-12 for the day, could not find the back of the net until the 82nd minute, and ran out of time to score the equalizer.

Junior midfielder Rob Cann led GBC in shots with five, while senior Mike Sager took two shots, both on goal, from his defender spot. Olcese took three shots, one registering a GBC goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ignacio Farias played a little over 76 minutes before he was relieved by freshman Carlos Meinhard. Farias made six saves and allowed two goals in the loss. Meinhard saw 13:49 of action and did not face any shots on goal.

Holy Family's Mark Ferretti made three saves in the Tiger goal while allowing one goal in 90 minutes of work to pick up the victory.
