Lightning Golf Team Places Fourth at Wilmington University Fall Classic

MIDDLETOWN, Del. – The Goldey-Beacom College golf team shot a 649 as a team to finish fourth in the seven-team, Wilmington University Fall Classic at Frog Hollow Golf Course on Sat.

The Lightning shot a 333 in the first round but then shot the third-lowest team score in the second round, a 316, to take fourth for the day.

Senior Wes Hood again led the way for GBC, taking seventh place overall with a 157 (+15). He was just three strokes back of a three-way tie for fifth place.

Sophomore Michael Coppa Jr was next in a four-way tie for 13th with a score of 162. Freshman Justin Lesko had an impressive showing, coming in a tie for 21st with a 164. Fellow freshman Patrick McRae was right behind at 25th with a 166.

Sophomore Devon Ripley and senior Erik Tammsalu tied for 28th overall with a 168 and freshman Matt Japchen finished 33rd with a 170. Senior John Marstellar  rounded out the Lightning finishers with a 176 for a tie for 37th.

Up next, the Lightning host the GBC Fall Classic at Chesapeake Bay Golf Course in Rising Sun, Md.
