PIKE CREEK, Del. – Junior captain David Krawczyk's header goal off a cross by sophomore Matt Bik with under four minutes left in regulation lifted the Goldey-Beacom College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Concordia on Homecoming Day, Sat. afternoon at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field.

The Lightning (3-10, 2-6 CACC), who had suffered two consecutive heartbreaking 1-0 losses (one in double-overtime, the other when they allowed a goal with under five minutes left in regulation), broke through for a thrilling victory on a very windy, chilly afternoon at Goldey-Beacom College.

Concordia (2-9-1, 2-6 CACC) held a 23-14 shot advantage, including a 13-3 differential in the first half, but the Clippers managed only six shots on goal to the Lightning's seven. GBC also held a slight, 3-2 advantage in corner kicks and were penalized less (11-6) for the day.

Leading the charge offensively for GBC was Bik, who took a team-high three shots, putting two on goal. He scored Goldey-Beacom's first goal on a direct kick in the 61st minute to tie the score at one and assisted on Krawczyk's game-winner at 86:15.

After a scoreless first half, Ekene Okereke opened the scoring with a goal for Concordia nearly seven minutes into the second stanza. Mario Fantozzi and Jorge Brohoquis were credited with assists.

The Lightning responded with two unanswered goals to claim the 2-1 victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Ignacio Farias earned the complete game victory with five saves and one goal allowed.

Up next, GBC will travel to Philadelphia to take on CACC foe Holy Family University on Tues., Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
