RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – The Goldey-Beacom College golf team posted a two-round team total of 631 to finish ninth out of 15 teams in the two-day, 36-hole Dowling September Shootout tournament played at the par-71, 6,945-yard Long Island National Golf Links Course in Riverhead, N.Y.
The Lightning posted a team score of 314 in the first round in bad weather conditions on Sun., and followed with a 317 in the second round on Mon.
Wilmington captured the team title with a 598 team score, while Post University was second at 608 and American International College third at 610. Le Moyne College (611) and Nyack College (619) rounded out the top-five.
Leading the Lightning were freshmen Devon Ripley and Justin Armstrong, who each shot 156 for the two rounds. They both finished tied for 28th place.
Junior Wes Hood finished tied for 38th with a 158, while senior Matt Quigley and freshman Michael Coppa, Jr. finished tied for 50th at 162.
