Philadelphia, PA – Lightning drop double header to Holy Family to end season
The Lightning headed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to face off against Holy Family University to finish out their season. The Lightning continued their batting struggles as they were unable to get around the bases. The Tigers of Holy Family were the first to score and take the early lead 3-0 after three innings of play. The Lightning however did find some luck with Kim Narkiewicz getting aboard and getting into scoring position with stealing second base. Danielle Rice then connected and hit a single to left center field to score Narkiewicz to help cut the Tigers lead down. The Tigers defense then held off the Lightning through the rest of the game. The Tigers took game one 6-1.
The Lightning were led by Danielle Rice who went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Lauren Witzke went 2 for 4 (double and singled). Bridget Mount led defensively for the Lightning with 10 putouts at first base.
Game two saw even more offensive struggles for the Lightning as they could not get into scoring position. The Lightning were able to hold off the Tigers until the third inning when the Tigers took the lead 5-0. The Tigers would then score another three in the bottom of the fourth and took game two 8-0.
The Lightning were led by Jackie Waddle who went 2 for 2 with two singles. Lauren Witzke led defensively for the Lightning with 6 putouts.
The Lightning ended their season with a 19-23 overall record and a 8-16 CACC record.
