Nyack, NY – Lightning double up on Nyack College in CACC opener

On Saturday, the Lightning softball team traveled to Nyack College to start their CACC schedule.  The offensive started for the Lightning in the second inning, as the team batted around, and gave pitcher Heather Draper a 4-run cushion.  Draper went through the first three innings with little trouble, only allowing one hit and one walk.  The Lightning bats drove in three more runs against Nyack in the fourth inning and then one more in the fifth, to put the game out of reach.  Nyack was only able to score one run, as the Lightning took the first game 10-1.  Kim Narkiewicz led the bats for the Lightning, going 3-3, with 3 runs scored.  Ashley Paige led the team with 4 RBI's in the first game.

In game two, the Lightning took the early lead, scoring four runs in the first 4 innings.  Nyack answered back with a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning, but Shannon O'Hara responded with a leadoff home run in the fifth.  With the Lightning just three outs away from securing the win, the Warriors came roaring back, with a 2-out grand slam to close the score to 7-5.  With some luck on their side, the Lightning retired the next batter and took game two.  Leah Bowman went 3-4, to lead the Lightning from the plate, as Shannon O'Hara picked up her third win of the season.

The Lightning will play tomorrow at Lincoln University to finish out their 6-game weekend.
