CAMDEN-WYOMING, Del. – The Goldey-Beacom College golf team concluded its season with a fourth-place showing in a field of six Delaware schools at the Andrew Geyer Memorial Classic at Wild Quail Golf Course.
The Lightning had a team total of 608 (312, 296) in the two-round, par 72 tournament on a 6,794-yard course. Freshman Michael Coppa led GBC with a 147 (76, 71) and tied for third overall. Junior Wes Hood also finished in the top-10 with a 78 and 73 (151).
The University of Delaware took first place, shooting four under par at 572, ahead of the second-place Wilmington B squad (602) by 30 strokes. The Wilmington A team finished third at 607 with the Lightning coming in right behind them at 608. The host, Wesley A and B teams rounded out the competition at 621 and 640, respectively.
The tournament is named in honor of former Wolverine student-athlete Andrew Geyer, who passed away in February 2009 at the age of 22 during his senior year at Wesley.
