Goldey-Beacom Gets Two Picked for CACC Weekly Honors

Goldey-Beacom junior Molly Skelly (Blackwood, NJ) was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week and sophomore catcher Jake Macey (Smyrna, DE) was picked to Baseball's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Skelly permitted just one run and five hits over 13 innings in getting a pair of wins.  She threw a two-hit shutout Saturday against Dominican (NY) after striking out five over six innings Thursday vs. Lincoln (PA).
 
Skelly paces the CACC with a 1.62 ERA and is tied for fourth with four wins.  She also struck out five on March 10 against Saint Thomas Aquinas, allowing just one earned run over seven innings.
 
Macey batted .571 (8-for-14) on the week with a home run and four RBI.  He went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI on Wednesday at Jefferson before getting three hits in game one Saturday against Felician.
 
Macey also had a hit in the next two games vs. Felician, extending his hitting streak to seven games.  He is 11th in the league with a .388 batting average, ninth with a .492 on-base percentage and 14th with a 1.084 OPS.
 
The baseball squad (13-11, 6-3 CACC) is tied for sixth in the East Region rankings, according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).  The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on February 17 ranked the squad tied for 30th in the country.
