Zach Smethers Picked to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for Baseball

Goldey-Beacom sophomore infielder Zach Smethers (Nazareth, PA) has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll for Baseball.

Smethers batted .421 (8-for-19) on the week with a triple, two home runs and seven RBI. He went on a tear in Saturday's doubleheader at Caldwell, going 5-for-9 with a triple, two home runs and six RBI. He had two hits and three RBI in game one, following that with three and three in the nightcap.

Presently on a seven-game hitting streak for the team's third-best run of the season, Smethers has been a reliable player in the early going sitting fourth on the squad with 20 hits. He also is third with 13 RBI, third with five stolen bases and tied for third with five multi-hit contests.

Goldey-Beacom (11-9, 4-1 CACC) is ranked seventh in the East Region according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). GBC has won four straight and seven of its last nine.

Please note Goldey-Beacom's next game is Wednesday at Jefferson, beginning at 2:00 pm. This originally was supposed to be played Tuesday.
