Goldey-Beacom Esports squad opened up their second year of play in a face-off against Bloomfield in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, but were dealt a 0-2 loss in the opening match.
Freshman Fidel "Jirarachi" Akor had a fantastic debut performance, taking 6 stocks and putting the final hit in defeating Nico McClendon from Bloomfield for the first time since the schools began competing. Sophomore David Hale added six taken stocks of his own and fellow sophomore Stephen Quinn took three stocks.
The Super Smash Brothers Ultimate squad plays next on Tuesday, where they face Dominican (NY) at 9:00pm.
