Two-Time CACC Champion Esports Reveals 2026 Spring Schedule

2/4/2026 12:00:00 AM

Fresh off winning a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference titles in the fall, Goldey-Beacom has announced its 2026 spring schedule.

The Lightning once again will play CACC opponents in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Marvel Rivals.  In addition, Goldey-Beacom will be part of Valorant in the National Esports Collegiate Conference.  The squad will be in Division IV after moving up from Division V before last fall.

GBC last fall saw three take home a combined six CACC individual honors.  Freshman Trey "Jade" Gilmer was named Rocket League Player of the Season in addition to making the All-CACC Team.  Freshman Cameron "BirdWick" Cook was picked to the All-CACC Rocket League Team and the All-CACC Marvel Rivals Team.  Sophomore Stephen "BulletNBible" Quinn (Oceanview, DE) was tabbed all-conference both for Marvel Rivals and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

All the awards were for the 2025 fall campaign and came after the Lightning won the CACC title both in Rocket League and in Marvel Rivals.

Rocket League was won November 18 with a 4-1 victory over Post.  Gilmer scored five goals, including what turned out to be the decider with 1:04 left in game five, and Cook had four that included the overtime winner in game one.

Marvel Rivals was captured three days later with a 4-0 triumph over Caldwell.  It was the department's 17th CACC championship.

This all came in the program's second year.  Last year, GBC played in the 16-team Valorant National Esports Collegiate Conferences Tournament and competed in the CACC Super Smash Brothers Ultimate final both in the fall and spring.
