Esports Earns a Second Straight Berth in Valorant NECC Nationals

Goldey-Beacom, which this season produced three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championships, is headed to the Valorant National Esports Collegiate Conferences Tournament a second straight year.

GBC is the No. 15 seed in the Division 4 Tournament and will face second-seeded PSU Blue (Penn State) in the first round on Monday, April 20 at 7:00 pm. The quarterfinals are April 21, the semifinals are April 27 and the final is May 4.

In only the program's second year, Goldey-Beacom had yet another exceptional campaign by winning two CACC crowns in Marvel Rivals and one in Rocket League. The team also made the conference final twice in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

The CACC awards from last January were plentiful for the Lightning. Freshman Trey "Jade" Gilmer was named Rocket League Player of the Season in addition to making the All-CACC Team, freshman Cameron "BirdWick" Cook was picked to the All-CACC Rocket League Team and the All-CACC Marvel Rivals Team with sophomore Stephen "BulletNBible" Quinn (Oceanview, DE) tabbed all-conference both for Marvel Rivals and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
