Softball Wins CACC Team GPA Award

7/31/2025 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom's Softball team picked up another victory from its historic 2025 campaign, winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Team GPA Award for having the top grade point average among all the league teams for that sport.

GBC recorded a 3.65 GPA for the academic year with Caldwell second at 3.59.  The Lightning also had 23 named to the league's Academic Honor Roll (annual GPA), 10 picked to the league's All-Academic Team (cumulative GPA) and the maximum of five honored College Sports Communicators Academic All-District (cumulative GPA and athletic success).

"I love when accolades continue to roll out through the summer so we can continue celebrating what an incredible year we just had," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said.  "Our Softball program has seen an incredible athletic transformation over the past five years and the academic success has followed right along with it.  This team is dedicated to all facets of their student-athlete identity, so it's no surprise that they've been able to achieve such a high level of success."

The team saw five players named all-conference, Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) and Wynter Radcliffe (Glen Burnie, MD) picked All-East Region by two organizations and Ariana Mirenda (Reading, PA) tabbed all-region by one.

Last season (40-16) provided history, pride and memories that will live for many years.  The squad notched the most single-season victories for any team in the Athletic Department's 35-year history, became the first GBC program to host an NCAA Tournament event on the Pike Creek campus and played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Lightning also made the CACC Tournament in three consecutive seasons for the first time in 19 years and won multiple games in said tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time.
