Christian Petrillo Named to ABCA East Region All-Defensive Team

Goldey-Beacom senior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) enjoyed yet another impressive campaign for the Baseball team and was picked to the American Baseball Coaches Association East Region All-Defensive Team.

A second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference pick in 2023, Petrillo this season once again displayed brilliance both from a defensive and offensive standpoint that made him one of the top center fielders in the region.

Again showing great speed, Petrillo closed the year tied for fifth in the CACC with a .992 fielding percentage that included 124 putouts and eight assists over 133 chances. At the plate, he ended tied for 23rd in the CACC with 54 hits, tied for 24th with 22 stolen bases and 48th with a .308 batting average to go with seven doubles, three triples and 22 RBI.

He graduates first in school history with 93 stolen bases, second with eight triples, second with 152 runs, third with 180 hits, sixth with 91 RBI, seventh with a .308 batting average, seventh with 352 putouts and ninth with 29 doubles. During his all-league campaign, he batted .335 with 70 hits, 15 doubles, 37 stolen bases and 33 RBI.

Goldey-Beacom (34-21, 23-11 CACC), only in its ninth season since the program's reinstatement, made the NCAA Tournament a fourth time with all coming in the last five years. It was nationally ranked for the third time in the last four campaigns, regionally ranked all season in reaching number one and made the CACC Tournament a fifth straight year.

The Lightning recorded a school-record 15-game winning streak, a team-best 23 conference wins, tied the school record with 20 home wins and started a team-best 12-0 in the CACC, making it 14 straight league triumphs dating to 2024.
