Softball Sees Two Make the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

4/7/2025 12:00:00 AM

Four victories on the week that extended Goldey-Beacom's winning streak to seven games played a big roll in senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) and sophomore McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) each making the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Burch went 2-0 on the week, striking out 13 over nine innings.  She had 10 strikeouts Wednesday against Chestnut Hill, allowing just one run and three hits over seven innings as part of the doubleheader sweep.  Burch also came out of the bullpen to get the win Saturday vs. Felician, striking out three over two innings in helping GBC take two.

A solid addition after playing four seasons at Mary Washington, Burch has put up solid numbers that have the Lightning (25-10, 9-5 CACC) tied for third in the league.  She is 28th in the nation with a league-leading 13 wins and 38th with a conference-best 115 strikeouts.

Burch's strikeouts are fourth on the school's single-season list and her victories are tied for sixth.  She had a season-best 16 strikeouts March 10 against Gannon, one of nine games this year with at least six strikeouts.

Frank batted .556 (10-for-18) over four games with three doubles and four RBI.  She had three hits and two doubles in game two Saturday vs. Felician, lifting the game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning for an 8-7 GBC victory.

Again providing solid play at shortstop, Frank is riding a nine-game hitting streak that includes four multi-hit games over the last six contests.  This streak is a long way from her team-season-high 22-game run last year.

Goldey-Beacom has exceeded 20 victories in four straight years for the first time in 23 years and looks to make the CACC Tournament a third consecutive season for the first time in almost two decades.  It also is 5-0 in extra-inning contests this year.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday visits Jefferson for a 2:30 pm doubleheader in East Falls.
