NCAA Announces Men’s Golf’s Participation in the East/Atlantic Regional

4/26/2025 12:00:00 AM

The NCAA on Friday made it official, announcing Goldey-Beacom's participation at the Men's Golf East/Atlantic Regional from May 8-10 at Whispering Woods Golf Club in Erie, PA.

The Lightning punched their ticket by capturing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title, its third straight championship.  It is the fourth consecutive year GBC will be playing in the regional.

The sixth CACC championship in program history and the most by any GBC team also marks the second time the program has won three straight titles, matching the feet from the 2002-03 season through 2004-05.  It also is the 14th CACC title in the College's history.

As the number three seed from the East Region, Goldey-Beacom begins play Thursday at 11:00 am.  It then will play Friday's second round starting at 8:20 am and Saturday's final-round tee times will be based on the standings after 36 holes.

The top three teams and the top two individuals not with a team from the regional advance to the NCAA Championship, which will be May 19-23 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Senior Adrian Bonilla (Almeria, Spain) enters the regional off another incredible regular season, winning the Jefferson Invitational last fall, ending second on three occasions and finishing 11th at the CACC Championship.  An All-CACC pick last year, Bonilla this season is ranked seventh in the East Region.

Senior Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia), a three-time All-CACC member, again has been a key factor on the squad in sitting 16th in the region.  An owner of seven top-10 finishes this year, he ended third at the CACC Championship last fall and the Battlefield Classic this spring.

Junior Guillermo de Miguel (Cadiz, Spain) won the GBC Invitational last fall as part of his vital play in his debut campaign.  Ranked 12th in the East, he has a trio of top-10 finishes this season.

Junior William Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand) is 29th in the East with three top-10 finishes, freshman Beto Torres (Mérida, Spain) closed eighth at the GBC Invitational and sophomore Pedro Huerta (Mérida, Spain) ended 20th at the Jefferson Invitational this spring.

While Goldey-Beacom looks to make a national presence with its student-athletes, the national presence for the College already exists with Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit serving as the chair of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Committee.
