Esports Headed to the Valorant NECC Tournament

Goldey-Beacom's first season in Esports got a major boost with the squad invited to compete in the Valorant National Esports Collegiate Conferences Tournament.

The 16-team national field sees GBC open the single-elimination tournament Monday, April 14 against top-seeded Grims (New England College). That best-of-three match will begin at 8:00 pm.

Under first-year coach David Lawrie, it has been an outstanding debut season for the Lightning as they welcomed outstanding talent in playing in a state-of-the-art Esports arena.

GBC went to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference final in both Super Smash Brothers Ultimate seasons, won the CACC regular-season title in Marvel Rivals and grabbed fourth place in the NECC Valorant Northeast Division. In Marvel Rivals, Goldey-Beacom won all six regular-season matches with five straight by 3-0 scores.
