CHAMPIONS: Esports Wins CACC Rocket League Crown With 4-1 Victory Over Post

11/18/2025 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom won the final three games against Post and captured the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rocket League championship with a 4-1 victory.

In just its second year as a sport in Pike Creek and its first competing in Rocket League, Goldey-Beacom won its first CACC title in Esports and the 16th for the Athletics Department.  The squad also is competing in the CACC final this week in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Marvel Rivals.

The Lightning and Eagles in the opening game of the best-of-seven match were in a battle in which neither team wanted to give an inch.  It was tied after the five-minute regulation period and overtime dragged on before Cameron "BirdWick" Cook scored 3:05 into the extra session for a 4-3 GBC win.

Post squeaked out a 2-1 triumph in game two before Goldey-Beacom dominated the next two games.  The squad took an early lead in game three for a 4-1 triumph and dominated the fourth game, 5-0, to grab a 3-1 lead in the match.

Game five was a battle, just like the first two games, that was tied at one late in regulation.  The Lightning got the ball deep in the Eagles zone looking for the historic goal and it was Trey "Jade" Gilmer who delivered, scoring with 64 seconds left for a 2-1 contest.

Post desperately tried to keep the series alive, but saw a late shot hit the crossbar and fall to the ground after time expired.

Jaime "Karma" Bickford scored seven goals, "Jade" netted five and "BirdWick" netted four.

GBC on Thursday faces Bloomfield in the CACC SSBU final and on Friday plays Caldwell in the CACC Marvel Rivals final.
