Baseball Sees Three Named D2CCA All-East Region

5/23/2024 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom's outstanding season was decorated with three more awards with junior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) along with seniors Garrett Musey (Millville, NJ) and Darin Miller (Mifflinburg, PA) all named second team D2 Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region.

This announcement comes after Kolmansberger and Musey each were picked second team All-East Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Kolmansberger made a huge splash this season at shortstop in being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year.  Coming up with big hits at the right time and consistently providing incredible play, the 2022 second team All-CACC pick this year broke the school record with a 28-game hitting streak during which he had 14 multi-hit contests, seven games with at least three hits, 11 doubles, one triple and 11 home runs.

Also included in that run was a five-hit, five-RBI contest March 22 at Jefferson and another five-RBI game April 9 vs. Holy Family in which he tied the school record with three home runs.

He is second in the CACC with 68 hits, second with 15 doubles, third with 55 RBI and 19th with a .337 batting average.  His RBI were one off the school record.

Kolmansberger is first in team history with nine triples, second with 161 hits, second with 116 RBI, second with 41 doubles, fifth with 41 stolen bases, tied for sixth with a .310 batting average and seventh with 14 home runs.

Musey battled back from injury to take his rightful place in being named first team all-league, using his overwhelming power and clutch play once again to power the Lightning.  This hardly is his first honor as the standout first baseman and designated hitter was named first team All-CACC, second team NCBWA All-East Region and CACC Rookie of the Year in 2021 in addition to being tabbed second team all-league in 2022.

His patience was on full display May 3 in game two of the CACC first-round series against Wilmington.  In a 3-3 game, he drew a walk that eventually led him to scoring the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a double from senior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE).

Despite only playing 43 games this season, Musey is third in the league with 10 home runs, 21st with a .333 average, first with a .497 on-base percentage and 17th with 11 doubles.  He graduates first in team history with 31 home runs, second with 630 putouts, third with 114 RBI and sixth with 127 hits.

Miller continued to be an offensive dynamo in being tabbed first team All-CACC, repeatedly providing timely hits and great versatility whether playing second base or third base.  A gifted athlete who gave the Lightning two great seasons, Miller this year paced the team with 22 multi-hit games.

His highlights this season include twice getting four hits and six RBI in a game, plus hitting a walk-off home run May 3 in game one of Goldey-Beacom's first-round series in the CACC Tournament against Wilmington.

Miller is first in the league with 69 hits, third with 55 RBI, fifth with nine home runs and 21st with a .333 batting average.  He graduates fourth in team history with 106 RBI, tied for fourth with 16 home runs, tied for sixth with a .310 batting average and tied for seventh with 126 hits.

Goldey-Beacom (34-21, 15-9 CACC) made the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history with all coming in the last four years.  In just its eighth overall season since the program's reinstatement, GBC this year was ranked second in the East Region by the NCBWA a majority of the season and as high as 22nd in the organization's national poll.
