Softball Places Two on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

2/15/2024 12:00:00 AM

Opening weekend for Goldey-Beacom's softball team saw senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) and freshman McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) each make the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Davis collected three hits in Goldey-Beacom's doubleheader Saturday at Millersville.  She had a pair of hits in game two, including an RBI double in the first inning to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

Already the owner of a prolific career over parts of five seasons, Davis continues to excel in left field and has been one of the key components in the team's resurgence.  A gifted athlete and an outstanding teammate, she closed last season sixth in the CACC with 25 stolen bases, 19th with 58 hits, 34th with a .337 batting average and 51st with 18 RBI.

Davis stands first in school history with 53 stolen bases, third with 94 runs, 16th with 130 hits and 21st with a .327 batting average.  She just passed her sister, Rachel Davis, for career hits as the latter recorded 129 for the Lightning.

Frank had two doubles in Goldey-Beacom's doubleheader Saturday at Millersville.  Both doubles occurred to lead off the game, which included game one being her collegiate debut.

Frank last season for Oxford High School was picked first team Class 5A All-State and first team Daily Local All-Area, recording a .598 batting average, 50 hits and 43 RBI.  Her play helped Oxford capture the Pennsylvania District 1, Class 5A championship and advance to the Class 5A quarterfinals.

Goldey-Beacom on Monday plays its home opener against Bloomsburg in a noon doubleheader.
