Goldey-Beacom Gets Three More Named for CACC Weekly Honors

4/10/2023 12:00:00 AM

Another solid week for Goldey-Beacom athletics saw Justin Jump (Wilmington, DE) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, fellow junior Kyle Walker (Wilmington, DE) picked to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll and senior Carly Setting (Newark, DE) tabbed to Softball's Weekly Honor Roll.

Jump was tabbed Pitcher of the Week for a second time this season after striking out eight over seven innings, allowing just one earned run in Goldey-Beacom's 3-1 victory Wednesday over Caldwell.

One of the squad's top pitchers and one of the reasons the Lightning are sixth in the East Region, according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, Jump once again is enjoying a strong campaign.  He is fifth in the CACC with three victories, eighth with 45 strikeouts and has struck out at least seven batters four times this season that includes each of his last three starts.

Walker batted .385 (5-for-13) on the week with four RBI.  He had three hits in game one Wednesday against Caldwell after notching two hits and two RBI Tuesday at Lincoln (PA).

It has been yet another unbelievable campaign for the 2021 second team All-CACC pick, who makes the Weekly Honor Roll for the second time in three weeks.  A gifted athlete who gives the squad tremendous offense in addition to a great glove at third base, Walker this season notched a 26-game hitting streak that established a new school record.

Owner of a hit in 47 of his last 50 contests, Walker is sixth in the league with 28 RBI, seventh with 41 hits, ninth with 12 stolen bases and 15th with a .342 batting average.  Walker also is second in team history with a .330 batting average, third with 133 hits, fifth with 77 RBI, fifth with 23 doubles, fifth with 22 stolen bases and tied for eighth with 93 assists.

Setting batted .381 (8-for-21) on the week with three RBI.  She notched three hits in game two Monday against Felician before getting two hits and two RBI in game one Friday at Staten Island.

One of the squad's top hitters who also plays solid defense at second base, Setting is 10th in the league with a .406 batting average, 11th with 11 stolen bases and 11th with 41 hits.  She also is 11th in team history with a .369 batting average and eighth with 27 stolen bases.
