1/25/2023 12:00:00 AM

(2023 men's schedule) / (2023 women's schedule)

Goldey-Beacom welcomes a new era for the track & field programs and the return of many standout competitors as the teams announced their joint 2023 schedule.

The squads open with three indoor meets, starting February 10 at the Fasttrack National Invitational in Staten Island, NY.  GBC on February 19 takes part in the Princeton Invitational before a return trip five days later to Staten Island for the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational.

The Lightning on March 25 head outdoors for the WCU Invitational in West Chester, PA before visiting Widener University from March 31-April 1 for the Danny Curran Invitational.  GBC then travels back to West Chester on consecutive Saturdays, competing April 8 at the Golden Ram Invitational and April 15 at the Bill Butler Invitational.

GBC from April 21-22 makes return trips to Delaware County for the Widener Invitational before a venture April 28-29 to Ewing, NJ for the Lions Invitational.  The squads also look to have student-athletes compete at the prestigious Penn Relays, which this year are from April 27-29.

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships once again will be held over two days, running from May 6-7 at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ.

An obvious bright spot returning on the women's side is sophomore Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ), who last season won the CACC javelin title for the team's second gold medal and first for the women.  A gifted competitor who only should get better in the coming months, Chardon notched four individual wins last spring with three in the javelin and one in the 200-meter dash.

Junior Camilla Flagg (Mardela Springs, MD) has been one of the program's top athletes and should continue to score points in vital meets.  She notched a second-place finish in the 800-meter dash at last year's Princeton Invitational as part of her five top-five showings.

Junior Hailey Crawford (Newark, DE) is back as she also is an important component with the cross country squad.  She posted 10 top-10 finishes last spring, which included helping the 4x100-meter relay team end fourth at the CACC Championship and the 4x400-meter squad close eighth.  Crawford also should see action again in the 200 and 400-meter dashes.

Junior Alexia Cornish (Milford, DE) continues to give the field squad a major boost, ending last season with seven top-10 finishes that included three at the Lloyd Sigler Meet in the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw.  Cornish notched a sixth-place showing at last year's CACC Championship, her second-straight such appearance in the top-10.

The women last season ended sixth at the CACC Championship for a second straight year.

Junior Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA) continues to leave a lasting impact on the squad, having been picked in 2019 as the league's CACC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Year.  He had seven top-10 finishes last spring, winning the 5,000-meter run at the Lloyd Sigler Meet and ending third in the same event at the CACC Championship.

Sophomore York Miles (Johannesburg, South Africa) made a thunderous entrance last season with 10 top-10 finishes, winning the 800-meter run at the Lloyd Sigler Meet.  His ability in middle-distance events again should be on full display, as it was by ending fifth in the 800-meter run at the CACC Championship.

Junior Jordan Cheaton (Middletown, DE) was a big-time player a season ago with 13 top-10 showings, including fifth in the discus throw at the CACC Championship and sixth at the same meet in the hammer throw.  His resume also includes winning the discus throw at the Golden Ram Invitational and ending second in the same event at the Lloyd Sigler Meet.

Sophomore Hezakiah Ali-Bentley (Dover, DE) is another one who made a sudden burst onto the scene, notching 14 top-10 finishes that included a win in the 4x400-meter relay at the Monarch Invitational.  This success carried into the CACC Championship, where he ended fifth in the 400-meter hurdles and sixth with the 4x400 meter relay team.

The men's squad closed fifth at last year's CACC Championship for its second consecutive top-five showing.
