Track and Field Races at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet

Goldey-Beacom track and field teams took the trip to Salisbury, MD to compete at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet and saw strong showings from both the men and the women.

For the men in the 100-meter dash, junior Jose Cornejo (Sinaloa, Mexico) saw a third place finish with a time of 11.26 seconds, senior Kedar Reid (Bear, DE) placed 11th in 11.75 seconds, junior Zach Phy (Lancaster, PA) finished 21st in 12.02 seconds and freshman Quran McCoy (Mays Landing, N.J.) was 28th in 12.32 seconds. The 110-meter hurdles saw sophomore David Yunga (Philadelphia, PA) place fifth in 16.47 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, junior Jalen Wright (Wilmington, DE) took home second place with a time of 22.27 seconds, junior Bostwick Patten (Middletown, DE) finished sixth with 23.26 seconds and Reid placed 11th with 23.52 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Wright placed first overall in 48.83 seconds, Patten took fourth in 50.23 seconds, junior Chris Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) finished ninth with 51.50 seconds and sophomore Matt Haight (Bear, DE) was 26th with 56.46 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, McCoy placed seventh in 1:02.68 and Phy finished 11th with 1:04.12. The 800-meter run saw freshman Cardin Benjamin (Lewes, DE) place third in 2:03.74. In the 5000 meter run, junior John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) placed seventh in 16:13.90 and freshman Raine Siwicki (Martinsville, VA) finished 20th with 18:35.14.

In the field events, freshman Tony Huynh (Silver Spring, MD) placed 10th in discus with a throw of 33.55m, 11th in hammer throw with 23.10m, and seventh in shot put with a throw of 10.52m. In high jump, senior Jayvon Laguerre (Milford, DE) took first place with a jump of 1.85m and placed 10th in long jump with a jump of 5.83m.

On the women's side, in the 100-meter dash, junior Tania Alfaro (San Jose, Costa Rica) placed sixth with a time of 13.24 seconds, sophomore Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, N.J.)  finished seventh in 13.28 seconds, freshman Narlia Albert (Vieux Fort, St. Lucia) closed 12th in 13.85 seconds, and sophomore Lara Zinsou-Bodé (Reinbek, Germany) placed 14th in 14.07 seconds. In the 110-meter hurdles, freshman Anna Pissarotti (Italy) placed third overall in 15.47 seconds and took home second in the 200-meter dash with 26.28 seconds. Also in the 200-meter dash, Dixon placed third in 26.47 seconds, sophomore Aiyana Adams (Pittsburgh, PA) finished 12th with 28.73 seconds and senior Kaylah Hill (Brooklyn, NY) was 21st in 31.26 seconds.

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Liv Drewling (Düsseldorf, Germany) took second place in 59.67 seconds and Adams placed third in 1:03.92. Sophomore Ella Badra (Caracas, Venezuela) was fourth in 2:32.96 in the 800-meter run and took fifth in 1500-meter run in 5:06.20. In the 5000-meter run, sophomore Tess Pearce (Manchester, England) placed third in 20:11.60.

In the field events, senior Jourdyn Rumph (Ardmore, PA) took first in discus at 35.73m, second in hammer throw at 38.09m, and first again in shot put at 11.48m. Also in the discus, freshman Ana Thaler (Ljubljana, Slovenia) placed second at 35.05m and freshman Abby Williams placed 12th with 20.06, In the high jump, Drewling placed first with a jump of 1.55m and Pearce was ninth with 1.35m. Thaler finished second in javelin at 28.57m and placed sixth in long jump at 4.56m, Drewling finished fifth in long jump with 4.62m and Zinzou-Bode finished 10th at 4.36m. Williams wrapped things for GBC in shot put, placing seventh with a throw of 8.45m

Both teams return to action on March 20-21, when they compete at the Purple & Gold Invitational in West Chester, PA.
