Goldey-Beacom men's and women's track teams competed at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, PA, showing strong efforts from both teams.
In the Friday events, freshman and current CACC Track Rookie of the week Eerik Nou Wihlborg (Helsingborg, Sweden) finished 24th in the 5000m run with a time of 15:18.19 and junior John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) finished with a time of 16:20.63. For the women, sophomore Tess Pearce (Manchester, England) placed 47th in the 5000m run with a time of 19:19.67.
In Saturday's events for the men, junior Jose Cornejo (Sinaloa, Mexico) placed 19th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.12 seconds and in the 200 meter dash, junior Chris Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) finished with a time of 23.88 seconds and freshman Quran McCoy (Mays Landing, NJ) had a time of 23.99 seconds. Junior Jalen Wright (Wilmington, DE) placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.00 seconds and 25th in the 400m with a time of 50.66 seconds. Also in the 400 meter, sophomore David Yunga (Philadelphia, PA) placed 48th with 51.85 seconds, McCoy finished 72nd with 53.18 seconds, and freshman Cardin Benjamin (Lewes, DE) finished 73rd with 53.34 seconds. Yunga also grabbed a seventh place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.75 seconds.
In the 800 meter, Benjamin finished with a time of 2:04.61 and sophomore Matt Haight (Bear, DE) had a time of 2:17.63. In high jump, senior Jayvon Laguerre (Milford, DE) placed 12th with a jump of 1.91m.
For the women, in the 100 meter dash, junior Tania Alfaro (San Jose, Costa Rica) placed 19th with a time of 12.60 seconds, sophomore Narlia Albert (Vieux Fort, St. Lucia) finished 48th with 13.51 seconds, and sophomore Lara Zinsou-Bodé (Reinbek, Germany) had a time of 13.92 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, sophomore Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, NJ) saw a third place finish with a time of 25.43 seconds, freshman Anna Pissarotti (Italy) finished 12th with 26.12 seconds, Alfaro finished 26th with a time of 26.52 seconds, and sophomore Aiyana Adams (Pittsburgh, PA) had a time of 28.15 seconds. In the 400 meter, Dixon placed fifth with a time of 57.70 seconds, Pissarotti took 14th with 59.30 seconds, and Adams had a time of 1:04.24. The 1500m saw sophomore Ella Badra (Caracas, Venezuela) place 32nd with 5:10.75 and Pearce finished 50th with 5:19.31. Badra also finished 12th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:33.66.Â
In the field events, senior Jourdyn Rumph (Ardmore, PA) placed seventh in discus throw with a throw of 37.35m, ninth in shot put with a throw of 11.11m, and 22nd in hammer throw with a throw of 37.85m. In high jump, freshman Ana Thaler (Ljubljana, Slovenia) placed fourth with a jump of 1.60m and Pissarotti finished ninth with a jump of 1.50m. Thaler placed 27th in long jump with a jump of 4.60m and Zinsou-Bodé had a jump of 4.23. Freshman Abby Williams (San Angelo, Texas) had a throw of 7.95m in shot put.
Both teams return to action on Friday and Saturday, when they compete at the Ursinus Track & Field Festival in Collegeville, PA.
