Baseball Places Three on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

4/18/2022 12:00:00 AM

Another solid week for Goldey-Beacom's baseball squad saw Anthony DiMartino (Sicklerville, NJ), fellow junior Connor Megginson (Harbeson, DE) and freshman Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, DE) earn a spot on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

DiMartino recorded a season-best eight strikeouts over seven innings, allowing just two runs – one earned – and seven hits in Goldey-Beacom's 11-2 triumph Wednesday over Dominican (NY).

DiMartino has enjoyed yet another strong campaign, tossing at least six innings over three of his last four starts and recording seven strikeouts March 16 vs. Lincoln (PA).  He is 18th in the CACC with 37 strikeouts.

Megginson batted .600 (6-for-10) with a double and five RBI.  He notched a pair of two-run singles in game two Friday against Bloomfield as part of his four RBI in Goldey-Beacom's 13-6 victory.  Megginson also went 4-for-5 with an RBI double in Wednesday's doubleheader sweep of Dominican (NY).

Megginson, picked second team All-CACC last year, has made a graceful transition to right field and provided an instant impact with several outstanding catches that have ended rallies.  He is 30th in the league with 30 hits and 34th with 19 RBI.

Kolmansberger batted .500 (3-for-6) on the week with two RBI.  He went 3-for-3 with two RBI in game two Friday against Bloomfield in Goldey-Beacom's 13-6 win.

Getting the nod at second base, Kolmansberger has displayed a deft fielding touch and the ability to make difficult plays look routine.  He has recorded a hit in five of his last eight contests and twice has gone 3-for-3 at the plate.

Goldey-Beacom (19-20, 10-4 CACC) is second in the CACC South Division with the top three teams in each of the two divisions advancing to the conference tournament.  The division champion earns a bye into the four-team double-elimination portion with the second seed hosting the third seed in a best-of-three series in each division for the two remaining spots.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday visits University of the Sciences for a 2:00 pm contest at Richie Ashburn Field in Philadelphia.
