Three for Goldey-Beacom Earn CACC Weekly Accolades

3/21/2022 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom saw three more of its student-athletes gain awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with junior shortstop Mason Maxwell (Newfield, NJ) named the league's Baseball Player of the Week, junior pitcher Anthony DiMartino (Sicklerville, NJ) picked to sport's Weekly Honor Roll and sophomore Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) tabbed to the Softball Weekly Honor Roll.

Maxwell batted .522 (12-for-23) over six games with a triple, two home runs and four RBI.  He recorded three hits in game two Wednesday against Lincoln (PA), rapped four hits in game one Sunday at Pace and had what amounted to a huge solo homer in game two that led to a 3-2 win.

It has been yet another strong campaign for the 2021 second team All-CACC and second team ABCA All East-Region pick, who is riding a nine-game hitting streak and is batting .457 (16-for-35) during that stretch.  A super-reliable player with both his bat and glove, he continues to be one of the anchors for a strong program which last season in just its fifth campaign played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

DiMartino struck out seven over six innings, allowing no runs and five hits Wednesday in Goldey-Beacom's 1-0 victory over Lincoln (PA).

A valuable player who also was a key component on last year's team, DiMartino this season has two victories in the early campaign playing against other strong units with at least three strikeouts in four of his outings.

Davis batted .400 (6-for-15) on the week with two doubles, four RBI and a walk-off single in Goldey-Beacom's 13-12 victory Sunday over Bowie State.  She went 4-for-4 in that contest with four RBI and a double.

Solidly establishing herself as the starting left fielder, Davis continues to be one of the Lightning's top hitters.  The only returnee to start all 27 games last season, Davis this year has four multi-hit contests and is fourth on the squad with a .326 batting average.
