Goldey-Beacom Posts a Great Eight With the CACC Weekly Awards

Goldey-Beacom had more than a solid week and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference took note, feting the school with eight weekly awards among seven student-athletes.
 
Junior Kayla Cook (Hebron, MD) was the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, freshman Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) won both the Women's Track Rookie and Field Athlete of the Week, freshman Ida Rose Moore (Bear, DE) was the Field Rookie of the Week, sophomore Zach Landvik-Larsen (Stroudsburg, PA) was tabbed Men's Track Athlete of the Week, York Miles was the Men Track Rookie of the Week, sophomore Gwen Safin (Stroudsburg, PA) was picked Softball Pitcher of the Week and junior Johnny Kampes (Colora, MD) was tabbed to the Baseball Weekly Honor Roll
 
Cook secured a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 13:32 seconds at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet.  Chardon grabbed first place in the javelin throw by covering 35.14 meters, was first in the 200-meter dash in 27.86 seconds and Moore took first place in the long jump at 5.10 meters.
 
Landvik-Larsen recorded a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at 15:52.98 at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet.  Miles secured a first-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:01.05.
 
Safin allowed just two runs – one earned – and four hits over seven innings with two strikeouts Sunday in Goldey-Beacom's 9-2 victory against Keiser in Myrtle Beach, SC.
 
Kampes ended the week batting .545 (6-for-11) with two doubles and four RBI.  He went 3-for-3 in game one Saturday at Millersville with a double and four RBI.  Kampes also had two hits, including a double, in game one Sunday vs. Millersville.
