More awards made its way to Goldey-Beacom's volleyball team with senior Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week and junior Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.

Roman Concepcion ended with 95 digs over four matches in continuing to show her immensely valuable play.  She had 26 digs Saturday vs. West Chester, 25 Wednesday against Jefferson, 22 Saturday to go with three aces vs. Bowie State and 22 Tuesday against Lincoln.

As solid a defensive player as you will find in the sport, she has recorded 761 career digs remarkably in just over one season.  She is fifth in the nation with 6.15 digs per set and eighth with 240 digs.  Roman Concepcion is first the CACC in both categories.

This comes one week after she was picked to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.

Syrdahl ended her week with 37 kills, a .286 hitting percentage, six aces, five blocks and 11 digs over four matches.  She notched 11 kills over 20 attacks for a .500 hitting percentage to go with two aces and two digs Saturday against Bowie State.  Syrdahl also had 11 kills, a .310 percentage, two digs and two blocks Wednesday vs. Jefferson before getting 10 kills, five digs and an ace Saturday against West Chester.

A valuable player at the net with both her offensive and defensive play, Syrdahl is 99th in the country with a .328 hitting percentage, fifth in the league with 15 aces and 15th with 16 blocks.  She is ninth in team history with 146 career blocks.

This is Syrdahl's third appearance in as many weeks this season on the Weekly Honor Roll.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday visits Georgian Court for a 6:00 pm match in Lakewood, NJ.
