Goldey-Beacom fell 3-0 to Kutztown on Tuesday evening at Brandywine Heights High School, falling by set scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-18.
The Lightning (4-2) battled throughout the opening set, trading points with the Golden Bears (4-1) before the latter took the first set. Goldey-Beacom recorded six kills in the set with sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) getting three.
Kutztown carried its momentum into the second set. The Lightning recorded 11 kills in the set, led by senior Baylee Brin (Salina, Kansas) and sophomore Kelci Gingras (Orem, Utah) with three each. Kutztown's strong offensive performance continued to close out the last set. Goldey-Beacom recorded 11 kills once again, with Gingras leading with five.
Gingras led the Lightning with eight kills with Fullwood getting seven and Brin added five. Junior Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) led the team with14 assists. Junior Brianna Anderson (Mesa, AZ) recorded 12 digs and Malena had eight. The Lightning finished the match with 28 kills, 27 assists, 38 digs and four team blocks.
Goldey-Beacom returns home Saturday at noon to host Lincoln University.
