Marshall Awtry and Justin Jump Picked to CACC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll

4/19/2021 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom has continued its best start in school history and its latest honor saw sophomore Marshall Awtry (Hockessin, DE) and freshman Justin Jump (Wilmington, DE) picked to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Awtry batted .474 (9-for-19) last week with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI over five games.  He recorded two hits and three RBI in all three games against Nyack, clubbing two doubles in Wednesday's single contest.  Awtry notched three hits, including two doubles, to go with two RBI in game one Saturday vs. Caldwell.

It has been yet another solid year for Awtry, who has excelled in his time as both a catcher and designated hitter.  He is eighth in the league with six doubles, 15th with two home runs, 18th with 15 RBI, 27th with a .353 batting average and 10th with a .706 slugging percentage.

Jump struck out nine over seven innings, allowing no runs and four hits to get the victory in Goldey-Beacom's 13-0 win Saturday over Caldwell.

It was Jump's first career complete game.  He struck out four earlier this season over two innings in Goldey-Beacom's 7-2 triumph March 30 at Chestnut Hill.

GBC (8-1, 7-1 CACC) is in the midst of an outstanding start that has seen it outscore its opponents 80-19 and record a 1.57 ERA.  It also has a .337 team batting average, good for second in the conference.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Tuesday at Jefferson for a 2:00 pm game in East Falls.
