Eduardo Coimbra Named Second Team All-CACC for Men's Soccer

11/8/2021 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom junior midfielder Eduardo Coimbra (Curitiba, Brazil), who has been one of the area's most dynamic and electric players the last few years, was named second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for a second time.

Coimbra, a member of the squad since 2018, really began to take flight during the spring of 2019 and has been one of the Lightning's go-to players since.  That play this season has him 19th in the country with 0.54 assists per game, 21st with eight assists (fourth in the league), 11th in the CACC with 16 points and 22nd with four goals.

Among Coimbra's highlights this season included getting a goal and two assists October 23 against Felician, during a run in which he notched a five-game points streak.  He also had a goal and an assist October 20 versus Staten Island and two assists October 2 against Caldwell.

As part of his second team nod in 2019, Coimbra ended that season 45th in the country with seven assists, 71st with 0.37 assists per game, 97th with 21 points and 14th in the CACC with seven goals.

Coimbra's honor this season was with a very young squad.  Most of Goldey-Beacom's starters for a lion's share of the games had never competed in a match for the program before this year.  The team not only plays in a competitive league, but annually schedules some of the toughest non-league foes that this year included regionally ranked West Chester and Lock Haven.

Many of these young players now have a year of play under their belt and that optimism carries into the 2022 season.
