Neyshlian Roman Concepcion Tabbed Second Team All-CACC for Volleyball and Julia Syrdahl Picked Third Team

Goldey-Beacom's volleyball program was feted with two major awards as senior libero Neyshlian Roman Concepcion (Toa Baja, PR) was named second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and junior middle blocker Julia Syrdahl (Basking Ridge, NJ) was tabbed third team all-league.

Unquestionably one the department's most valuable players among the fall sports, Roman Concepcion had an exceptional two-year run and both her overall play and leadership will be very difficult to replace.  Consistently showing an ability in getting to almost impossible digs, she was the backbone of the defense and continued to show why having a great defensive player is critical in volleyball.

Roman Concepcion graduates sixth in school history with 1,161 career digs, the only one to reach quadruple figures in just two seasons and has the College's single-season mark with 660.  She is fourth in the country with 6.47 digs per set and fourth in total digs.  Both figures lead the conference.

She also has been picked the league's Defensive Player of the Week three times this season.

Syrdahl gave the Lightning consistently solid play the entire campaign, providing seemingly flawless hitting and blocking ability that had the squad in many matches.  She is sixth in the league with a strong .300 hitting percentage (the fifth-best mark in program history), 14th with 59 blocks, 15th with 266 kills, 16th with 2.61 kills per set and 17th with 34 aces.

Syrdahl six times this season notched at least a .500 hitting percentage in a match and six times this year was named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.  She is fifth in team history with 189 career blocks, tied for sixth with a .252 hitting percentage and 10th outright with 637 kills.
