10/4/2021 12:00:00 AM

Another strong week for Goldey-Beacom saw three picked to their sport's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll with Patrick Short (Georgetown, DE) honored for men's soccer, fellow freshman Alyssa Ruggeri (Hockessin, DE) tabbed for women's soccer and Rylen Carroll (Monroe, OH) selected for volleyball.

Short scored a massive goal with 2:57 left to break a tie and lift Goldey-Beacom to a 4-3 victory Saturday over Caldwell.

Short has been a great addition for a team coming into its own with a bunch of newcomers in the starting lineup.  He is tied for second on the team with two goals and five points.

Ruggeri scored in the 93rd minute, lifting Goldey-Beacom to a 2-1 overtime victory Saturday over Caldwell.  She also had an assist Wednesday against Wilmington.

Ruggeri, picked September 7 as the league's Rookie of the Week, is another newcomer who has played a key role in the team's success.  She is tied for fourth in the league with three assists, tied for fourth with nine points and tied for fifth with three goals.

Carroll ended her week with 43 assists, 18 digs, three service aces, two kills and two blocks over two matches.  Pressed into service, Carroll had 37 assists, 16 digs, two aces and two kills for her first collegiate double-double in Goldey-Beacom's 3-1 victory Saturday over Nyack.

Saturday was Carroll's first collegiate start and she has played just eight matches in her young career.

Goldey-Beacom went 4-0 on the day, including the women's tennis team getting a 7-0 victory over Dominican (NY).  The women's tennis awards typically are named Tuesday.
