The list of accolades keep flooding in for Goldey-Beacom's baseball program with senior Bailey Spence (Newark, DE) named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Pitcher of the Week.

This honor comes after Spence was picked the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week and freshman Luke Taylor (Souderton, PA) made the league's Weekly Honor Roll.

This announcement is not the first this week from the NCBWA.  The Lightning on Monday learned they received votes in the association's East Region poll for the first time in program history.

Spence struck out six over seven innings, allowing just an unearned run and four hits in Goldey-Beacom's 2-1 victory Sunday over Frostburg State.  It was his second victory in as many starts, after getting four strikeouts February 16 against Limestone, earning a spot on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Spence this season has recorded 10 strikeouts over 13 innings and a 0.69 ERA.

Goldey-Beacom, now in its fourth season, has been making strides forward each campaign and the 2020 start is another example.  The squad owns a 5-3 record that represents the best eight-game start in team annals and the squad won its first three games for the first time in program history.

A major reason has been the unit's solid pitching staff, which owns a CACC-best 2.09 ERA with 54 strikeouts and just 25 walks over 64 2/3 innings.

Goldey-Beacom this weekend has a four-game series against perennial-power Millersville.  This begins Saturday with a noon doubleheader at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.
