(2019 schedule)

The goal of winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference title is attainable and Goldey-Beacom looks to finally get over the hump as the team revealed its 2019 schedule.

The squad plays 10 games this season at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field, including the opener September 5 against Saint Anselm and two days later vs. Bloomsburg.

After the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener September 21 at reigning league-champion Caldwell, the Lightning then have a four-game homestand through early October.  Highlights include a tough non-league game October 2 against New York Tech and an October 5 CACC tilt vs. Dominican (NY).

GBC then plays five of its next six games on the road, with the lone home tilt being October 15 against perennial-rival Holy Family.  Games on October 9 at Georgian Court and October 23 at Jefferson will be major tests as the regular season nears its conclusion.

Goldey-Beacom visits Wilmington (DE) on October 29, hosts Post in the league finale November 2 and is home November 7 for a non-league match against Mercy.

The league's top eight teams make the CACC Tournament, which starts November 12.  The semifinals and final will be held later that week in Waterbury, CT.

Goldey-Beacom (15-5, 11-1 CACC) last season enjoyed a remarkable campaign in which it broke the school record for most wins, most conference victories, most home wins with nine and a team-record 63 goals.  The Lightning won their first six games both overall and in the conference for the best starts in team annals and recorded their third straight season of double-digit wins for the first time in program history.

Last season also marked the first time Goldey-Beacom played in the CACC semifinals in consecutive years.  The quarterfinal triumph also marked the first time in program history it had won a conference tournament game in back-to-back seasons.

GBC also has 39 victories over its last three seasons that is a school record for that period.

One of the key players back is junior Kelly Mejia (State College, PA), the reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Year and one of seven for Goldey-Beacom named all-conference.  A gifted back who has solidified her starting role over the last two seasons, Mejia last year also was tabbed first team CCA All-East Region and second team United Soccer Coaches All-East Region.

Another first team all-league returnee is junior Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE), who is as spectacular a forward as any in the region.  A dominant force with solid toughness and quickness, the 2017 CACC Rookie of the Year and first team all-league pick closed last season 38th in the nation with 14 goals (tied for the third most in team history), 46th with 33 points (third most in team history), 47th with 0.70 goals per game, 51st with four game-winning goals and 52nd with 1.65 points per contest.

Two of the second-team picks back are sophomore midfielder Melayna Immediato (Hockessin, DE) and senior forward Jenna Fannon (Newark, DE).  Immediato, also picked second team CCA All-East Region, was 64th in the country with 27 points (ninth most in team history).  Fannon closed 38th in the nation with 14 goals (tied for the third most in team history) and 38th with 35 points (second most in team history).

Fourth-year coach Dan Frick continued to impress in being picked CACC Coach of the Year a second time.  He was an assistant the previous two seasons, helping GBC reach the CACC Tournament in all five of his seasons.
