(2018 schedule)

Goldey-Beacom took a major step forward a season ago and many talented returning players hope 2018 will be even better as the squad released its schedule.

The Lightning play their first four games at home, beginning with the season opener August 30 against Saint Thomas Aquinas.  The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener September 8 vs. Felician ends the homestand.

GBC then will have to get used to the road, which is where it will play nine of its last 14 regular-season contests.  That begins with a six-game stretch in which the only home game is September 18 against Jefferson, a rematch of last year's conference quarterfinal which saw Goldey-Beacom produce a 2-1 overtime win.

Reigning league champion Georgian Court visits Pike Creek on October 2 and the regular season concludes October 24 at home against local-rival Wilmington (DE).

The league's top eight teams make the CACC Tournament, which starts October 29.  The semifinals and final will be held later that week in Waterbury, CT.

Goldey-Beacom (12-5-2, 8-3-1 CACC) last season notched double figures in victories in consecutive years for the first time since 2001-02, went to the CACC Tournament a fourth straight year and tied the school record with eight conference wins.  The team also hosted a conference tournament game in back-to-back seasons for the first time in team history and its eight home wins matches the school record established in 2002.

A key member back in the fold is sophomore forward Alanna Speaks (Dover, DE), who was picked CACC Rookie of the Year, second team all-region and to the CACC All-Tournament Team.  An incredible athlete who teams have to game plan against, Speaks finished 38th in the country with 13 goals, 42nd with 30 points and 86th with three game-winning goals before excelling for the women's basketball team.

Senior forward Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland) also is back once again looking to make a major impact.  One of four for the Lightning to start all 19 contests, she closed last season 46th in the country with four game-winning goals, 80th with six assists and 94th with 22 points in addition to making the CACC All-Tournament Team.
