During a ninth inning rally on senior day at Doyle Field, Goldey-Beacom Baseball sparked the park as they split versus Nyack, 0-4 and 3-2.
Down 0-2, heading into the ninth inning of game two, the Lightning answered the bell rounding off three runs in the final inning.
Jason Rowe (2-for-3) started the comeback singling to right center, and then, Raul Perez-Duran (senior from Trenton, NJ) doubled down the right field line, putting runners on second and third base.Â
Edwin Lee (senior from La Plata, MD) hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Rowe (senior from West Hills, CA) on the play decreasing the Warriors lead, 1-2.
With two outs and Perez-Duran on third base, Zach Roseman (sophomore from Wilmington, DE) played hero and smacked an RBI single through the left side tying the game, 2-2.
Ty Williams (senior from Newark, DE) replaced Roseman as a pinch runner on first base. Williams eventually sprinted into the game winning run. He advanced to second after a wild pitch, and scored at home plate off an error from the Warriors' third baseman, who was having a gold-glove type of day.
Jake Kinsell (2-1), the sophomore from Carmichaels, PA, zoned in at the mound entering the game in the fifth inning. He finished the remainder of the game allowing one hit with no runs and retired six batters.
Logan Mann (2-3) entered the ninth inning and received the loss for the Warriors. Ben Bills started off stellar, pitching eight innings and allowing no runs for Nyack.
A scoreless game one until the sixth inning, Austin Fischer hit an RBI single down the right field line putting the Warriors up, 1-0. Herman Alvarado and Fischer both went 2-for-3 from the plate in game one.
Jack Kelly (7-2) pitched marvelously in his complete game. He allowed six hits and tallied eight strikeouts for the Warriors (22-20-1, 15-13 CACC).
Brandon Ferrie (1-2), the sophomore from Royersford, PA, threw a solid outing pitching seven one-thirds innings and allowing five hits.
Goldey-Beacom (18-27-1, 16-15) returns to the diamond for their final game of the year at Jefferson on Monday with a noon start time. Before their matchup with the Lightning, Jefferson plays a doubleheader versus Bloomfield. If Jefferson loses at least one of those two games, Goldey-Beacom advances to the CACC Tournament for the first time in school history. In the event Jefferson sweeps Bloomfield, Monday's game will determine the final spot in the CACC Tournament.
