Baseball Dominates in Sweep at Concordia (NY)

Goldey-Beacom found a hotspot in a pair of dominant Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference wins at Concordia (NY), 10-4 and 12-5, in Bronxville, NY.

The Lightning scored six unanswered runs to begin game one. During that stretch, Brandon Abdul (junior from Old Bridge, NJ) smacked a pair of RBI singles, Brandon Hanson (sophomore from Bayonne, NJ) hit an RBI double to right center field, and Justin Hill (sophomore from Seaford, DE) slapped an RBI single to left field.

Jay Smith (3-for-5, 2 RBI), the senior from Zeeland, MI, capped off the early stretch with a homer over the center-field fence.

The Lightning added two more solo home runs in the seventh inning thanks to Hanson (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Edwin Lee (senior from La Plata, MD).

Brandon Ferrie (1-1), the sophomore from Royersford, PA, received the win for the Lightning pitching six innings, striking out six batters and allowing three earned runs.

Michael Romano (1-1) got the loss for the Clippers pitching six innings and allowing six earned runs.

Goldey-Beacom started off hot in game two going on a five-run unanswered streak. The run came after several sacrifice plays and an RBI single from Zach Roseman (sophomore from Wilmington, DE).

Roseman (3-for-4, 4 RBI and 3 runs) ended a four-run seventh inning with a two-RBI homer over the left field wall putting the Lightning up 9-2.

Eventually, game two ended in the top of the ninth inning due to darkness.

Hanson (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and Smith (3-for-4) once again turned in marvelous performances. Smith recorded his first save of the season, pitching three innings and retiring three batters.

Trevor Jump (3-2), the freshman from Wilmington, DE, grasped the win pitching five innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out seven batters.

Enrico Locaseio (0-4) pitched four innings in the loss for the Clippers (9-14, 5-5 CACC).

Goldey-Beacom (11-17-1, 9-5) returns to the diamond on Wednesday versus Felician. The CACC doubleheader is scheduled to begin with a noon start at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.
