On a sunny and windy day at Doyle Field, Goldey-Beacom baseball lost to No. 22 Millersville University by a score of 14-7.
Brandon Abdul (sophomore from Old Bridge, N.J.) started off strong pitching three innings, striking out three batters, and allowing one hit with no earned runs.
In the fourth inning, Millersville turned in a 10-run inning. The spurt included two homers from Eric Callahan (grand slam) and Ben Snyder.
Drew Miller (2-0) started on the mound, and got the win, for the Marauders (32-14). He pitched five innings, struck out five batters and allowed two earned runs on four hits.
Holden Bailey (1-2), the freshman from Milford, Del., took the loss on the mound for the Lightning.
Keegan Marsden (2 for 4), the starting third baseman from Stratford, Ont., jacked a solo homer to left field in the fifth inning.
Goldey-Beacom (8-35) returns to the diamond tomorrow at 1:00 pm against Philadelphia University. The doubleheader will be played at Doyle Field in Hockessin, Del.
