Goldey-Beacom battled University of the Sciences in a pair of non-league games and fell by scores of 7-5 and 6-1 in Philadelphia, PA.

Sophomore Calvin Clark (Millville, NJ) continued his torrid hitting as his three-run homer in the fifth inning of game one gave the Lightning a 5-3 lead. It was his fourth long ball of the year and third in the last five games.

USciences tied it in the last of the fifth on RBI singles from Trevor Datz and Mike Pollastrelli. The Devils grabbed the lead in the sixth as Frank D'Allesandro scored on a wild pitch and Ryan Scholey lined an RBI double.

Clark and freshman Zach Roseman (Wilmington, DE) closed with two hits apiece for the Lightning. Newark, DE freshman Matt Schubert (0-1) gave up two runs – one earned – and one hit over two-third of an inning.

Eric Stratoti (2-4) allowed five runs – three earned – and eight hits over six innings for the Devils and Mack Gill got his first save of the year, striking out three over three no-hit innings.

USciences (11-21) in game two played three runs in the last of the second for a 3-0 lead. Chris DeLuca and Pat Hiester each drew bases-loaded walks sandwiched around an RBI single from TJ Dezzi.

Junior Edwin Lee (La Plata, MD) had a sacrifice fly in the fourth for the Lightning's only run.

Roseman and junior Raul Perez-Duran (Trenton, NJ) had three hits apiece. Carmichaels, PA freshman Jake Kinsell (0-6) struck out four over five innings, but yielded six runs and eight hits over five innings.

Dezzi amassed three hits and Kris Morgenweck (4-2) allowed one run and 11 hits over seven innings for the Devils.

Goldey-Beacom (3-27) is home Friday for a 1:00 pm doubleheader against New Haven.
