Baseball Falls Twice at Nyack



Goldey-Beacom played two-hard fought games at Nyack and was dealt a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference losses, 4-2 and 1-0, in Nyack, NY.
 
Game one saw Anthony Torr get an RBI single for the Warriors in the second inning and Hayden Allen later in the frame had a run-scoring triple.  Ryan Kahl recorded an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth and Carlos Pino followed with a sacrifice fly for a 4-0 contest.
 
Sophomore Calvin Clark (Millville, NJ) continued his impressive play for the Lightning with a two-run homer in the ninth for his third long ball of the year.
 
Smyrna, DE freshman John Barkley (0-3) struck out five over eight innings, but yielded four runs and seven hits for Goldey-Beacom (3-25, 3-13 CACC).
 
Allen amassed two hits and Jack Kelley (2-0) struck out nine over eight scoreless frames, yielding four hits.
 
Nyack in game two won it in the last of the seventh inning.  Jesse Barton drew a leadoff walk, reached second on Ruben Correa's groundout, took third on a balk and scored on Hayden Allen's bunt single.
 
Old Bridge, NJ sophomore Brandon Abdul (1-3) struck out seven over 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run and three hits for GBC.  Jose Corrale (3-1) surrendered four hits over seven scoreless frames for the Warriors (13-10, 6-4).
 
Goldey-Beacom
is on the road Wednesday at University of the Sciences, beginning at 1:00 pm.  USciences plays its home games at Richie Ashburn Field, located in FDR Park.
