Baseball Drops a Pair at Philadelphia U.



Goldey-Beacom's baseball team ran into perennial power in Philadelphia U. and was dealt a pair of losses, 14-5 and 15-12, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play in Philadelphia, PA.
 
The Rams (7-12, 5-3 CACC) in game one got three runs in the fourth inning, courtesy of RBI singles from Nick Goetz and Brandon Quaranta.  It was in the seventh inning when Quaranta belted a two-run homer to make it a 12-3 contest.
 
Junior Raul Perez-Duran (Trenton, NJ) continued his impressive play when he hit a two-run long ball in the ninth for his second homer of the season.
 
Perez-Duran, junior Geoff Stone (Laurel, MD) and freshman Tevin Thomas (Dover, DE) each had two hits for the Lightning.  Carmichaels, PA freshman Jake Kinsell (0-1) was charged with six runs – four earned – and five hits over four innings with five strikeouts.
 
Michael Melendez recorded three hits and four RBI for the Rams.  Jonathan Gottschall (2-0) allowed five runs – four earned – and nine hits over nine innings with three strikeouts.
 
GBC (1-17, 1-7) in the second game trailed 15-9 entering the seventh and final inning before Perez-Duran lined an RBI triple, scored on a wild pitch and freshman Trent Hearn (Bethel, DE) laced an RBI double.
 
Perez-Duran closed with three hits and three RBI with junior Edwin Lee (La Plata, MD) getting four RBI.  Aurora, IL junior Blake Salesky (0-2) permitted seven runs – six earned – and seven hits over two innings.
 
Dan Klusman rapped three hits and Matt McGee totaled three RBI for the Rams.
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Friday against Wilmington (DE) in a 1:00 pm doubleheader at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.
