Baseball Drops a Pair to Post

One day after notching its first victory in program history, Goldey-Beacom dropped a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games to Post at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

GBC was handed a 10-5 loss in the opener and a 2-0 setback in the nightcap.

After its 14-3 victory Friday at Chestnut Hill, GBC in game one today scored five times in the third inning for a 5-4 lead.  Freshman Justin Hill (Seaford, DE) continued his solid play with a three-run triple to left for the lead.

But Post scored five runs in the seventh for a 9-5 cushion, aided by a two-run single from Joey Picone.

Freshman John Barkley (Smyrna, DE) allowed four runs and five hits over five innings in a no-decision and Millville, NJ sophomore Calvin Clark (0-1) permitted three runs over two-thirds of a frame.

Picone had four hits, Rosario Missiti notched three and Alex Johnson (1-0) struck out six over six scoreless relief innings for the win.

Don Walsh in game two provided the only offense the Eagles would need with a long home run to left field in the first inning.  Brendon Emigholz gave the visitors insurance in the fourth with an RBI double for the final.

Trenton, NJ junior Raul Perez-Duran (1-1) did his best on the mound, but permitted two runs and six hits over five innings for the Lightning.

Walsh closed with two hits and Nick Arnold (2-2) went the distance, tossing a four-hit shutout over seven innings.

Goldey-Beacom is on the road Wednesday at Philadelphia University for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.
